Our Story

From humble beginnings to becoming Uganda's leading graphic design education center

Creative Hub Uganda founding team

A Vision Born from Necessity

Creative Hub Uganda began in 2010 when three friends – Sarah Nakimuli, Daniel Okello, and Grace Atim – recognized a significant gap in Uganda's creative education landscape. Having studied abroad and returned with international design experience, they found local businesses struggling to find skilled graphic designers who understood both global design trends and local cultural contexts.

Starting with weekend workshops in a small rented space in downtown Kampala, they taught basic design principles to just twelve students using three borrowed computers. Word quickly spread about their practical, culturally-relevant approach to design education.

By 2015, Creative Hub had grown to offer full certificate programs and moved to our current campus. Today, we've trained over 2,500 designers who are transforming Uganda's visual landscape across advertising, publishing, technology, and the arts. Our commitment remains the same: to nurture world-class design talent firmly rooted in African visual traditions and perspectives.
